ABOUT
Heart Winds House is ideally situated in the middle of a lovely sunny meadow and surrounded on all sides by forest, farms and fields with views of Burke Mountain and the Green Mountain range from various rooms in the house.  We are moving towards becoming a "self-sufficient working homestead" and employ sustainability practices to produce food, manage forest resources and provide unique experiences for visitors, guests and our cooperative community. The home was custom designed and carefully constructed using approximately 60% recycled and salvaged building materials. It is comfortably and attractively furnished and fully equipped with linens, dishes and appliances. It is set up to sleep 6 in bedrooms and there is a queen size fold out futon in the loft available for extra guests by special arrangement.

Sunny, bright and tastefully decorated with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths and second floor loft with fold out couch, cathedral ceilings, pine floors and beams, jacuzzi tub in one bathroom and antique claw foot tub in the other, large gourmet kitchen, two story sun-room, wrap around front deck, covered back porch and second floor balcony, all surrounded by forests, farms and fields with a picture perfect view of Burke Mountain. A great place for year round fun, a sense of adventure and total relaxation. Offers complete privacy, yet just minutes from East Burke Village for fine dining, shopping and recreation. Easy access off I-91 makes a quick 2-3 hour drive from Boston or Montreal.

Burke is right in the heart of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom, an area renowned for it's pristine beauty, "real" Vermont lifestyle and fantastic recreational opportunities. Here you will find Burke Mountain Ski Area and the Kingdom Trails recreational network, voted one of the Top Ten trail systems in the world by the International Mountain Biking Association. This is a great place for those who love alpine or X-C skiing, snow-shoeing, mountain biking, hiking and getting close to nature. It is also a place for people who love fine dining, antiques, boutique shopping, living history, classic Vermont country scenery and the quintessential New England Village charm of yesteryear.

Within easy driving distance to the Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium, the Catamount Arts Theater, Vermont Children's Theater, Trout River Brewery, the Vermont Leadership Center and the Nulhegan Basin Recreation Area.
Close to Lyndon State College, Burke Mountain Academy, Lyndon Institute, St. Johnsbury Academy and the town of St. Johnsbury, Lake Willoughby, Crystal Lake and Newark Pond, and only an hour from Monpelier (Vermont's State Capital) and an hour from the Canadian border with French-speaking Quebec. There is so much to see and do here!

Cable and Satellite TV are NOT available in our neck of the woods, but we do have hi-speed internet service throughout the house along with internet TV and Blu Ray / DVD players in the bedrooms with streaming internet TV. There is excellent cell phone coverage.
